R1.8 Billion
Entertainment Centre on cards for P.E.
Port Elizabeth’s waterfront could soon be
home to a fantastic new R1, 8 billion entertainment centre,
which is to be sited on a large unused piece of land located
next to the city’s harbour.
A casino will be one of the main attractions and the centre
will also house a hotel tourist retail shops, a cruise liner
terminal, ice rink, IMAX cinema and various eateries.
The centre is the brainchild
of Embo Project Management Group, one of two companies who
are applying for the only casino license that is up for
renewal in the Nelson Mandela Bay. The competing bid came
from Boardwalk Casino, the current holder of the license.
According to the Eastern Cape gambling authorities, the
review and investigation process can take as long as eight
months.
Embo Project Management
Group has partnered with US based White Sand for this bid
and if the group is awarded the license, White Sand will
be responsible for overseeing the construction and operation
of the casino complex. The group hopes to break ground in
November this year!
